Tennessee 65, Vanderbilt 0

NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 26 -- Peyton Manning threw two touchdown passes and James Stewart and Jay Graham each ran for 121 yards and a score as Tennessee recorded its biggest victory in 43 years with a 65-0 trouncing of Vanderbilt. The Volunteers (7-4, 5-3 Southeastern Conference), who began the season with three losses in their first four games, scored 30 points in the second quarter and likely clinched a bowl bid with their fourth straight victory.

The 65 points are the most bythe Volunteers since they set a modern school record in a 68-0 victory over Tennessee Tech in 1951. Manning, a freshman, completed 10 of 16 passes for 141 yards with one interception before leaving after the third quarter. Tennessee outgained Vanderbilt, 655 yards to 212, but absorbed a major blow when running back Aaron Hayden suffered a broken leg at the end of the second quarter. Hayden had 77 yards on 14 carries before the injury, including a 5-yard touchdown run. Vanderbilt (5-6, 2-6 SEC) failed in its attempt at its first winning season since 1982. It was the Commodores' worst loss since a 71-0 shellacking against Alabama in 1945.
