Washington 25, Ohio St. 16

SEATTLE, Sept. 10 -- Napoleon Kaufman rushed for a career-high 211 yards on 32 carries Saturday, helping Washington to a 25-16 victory over No. 14 Ohio State. Kaufman became the first running back to gain 200 yards against Ohio State since Jamie Morris of Michigan gained 210 yards against the Buckeyes in 1986.

He finished with 278 all-purpose yards to become the Huskies' leader in all-purpose yardage with 4,354. Kaufman gave Washington a 7-0 first quarter lead on a 38-yard run, knifing through the Buckeyes' defense and breaking away for the touchdown. Richard Thomas' 1-yard plunge with 5:13 left in the opening quarter gave the Huskies a 13-0 lead. Just 13 seconds later, Damon Huard connected with Eric Bjornson on a 25-yard touchdown pass for a 19-0 advantage. Washington added a field goal in the second quarter before Ohio State got on the board on Eddie George's 24-yard touchdown run. George gained 108 yards on 24 carries for the Buckeyes. Ohio State added another touchdown with 1:42 remaining in the game on Bobby Hoying's 13-yard touchdown strike to Buster Tillman. Hoying completed 19 of 38 passes for 288 yards for the Buckeyes, who played without wide receiver Joey Galloway. The wide receiver sat out the first game of a two-game suspension for accepting money from a financial planner.
