SINGAPORE, APRIL 13 -- U.S. retail chain Kmart will open an outlet in Singapore next month, the company announced Wednesday.

The first Kmart store opened in the U.S. in 1962. Today, there are 4, 000 retail outlets in the U.S., Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Australia, Canada, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
