Terms were not announced, but Brister reportedly will earn slightly more than the $945,000 he earned last season.

Brister played in 12 games last season due to an injury to starter Randall Cunningham and finished fourth in the NFC in passing. Brister, who will be starting his ninth season, completed 58.6 per cent of his passes for 1,905 yards with 14 touchdowns and five interceptions.

'I think the Eagles have a chance to do good things this year and I'm glad to be a part of that,' Brister said. 'We proved we could win there at the end of the season when we took four of our last six games. If something happens to Randall, God forbid, I feel I could step in again and we could continue to win.'

Brister threw for 1,479 yards and 11 touchdowns during the Eagles' final six-game stretch run.
