Padres sign Reynolds

SAN DIEGO -- The San Diego Padres Friday signed veteran second baseman Harold Reynolds to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.

Reynolds, a 33-year-old switch-hitter, batted .252 in 145 games for the Baltimore Orioles last season. Before joining Baltimore last season, Reynolds spent 10 seasons with the Seattle Mariners, where he won three Gold Gloves and was selected for two American League All-Star teams.

Reynolds is a .259 career hitter. He batted a career-high .300 in 1989 and led the AL with 60 stolen bases in 1987.
