C-130 Air Force plane crashes in Philippines

MANILA -- An air force C-130 plane carrying relief goods to typhoon victims crashed Wednesday in heavy forests in Camarines Sur province, southeast of Manila, an airport officer said.

Air Force Captain Tomasito Macatangay could not immediately confirm if all 24 passengers, two pilots and two crew members were killed in the crash in Libmanan town, 175 miles (280 kms) southeast of Manila.

The plane was on its way to Camarines Sur to deliver relief goods to victims of two typhoons that killed more than 300 people and devastated the area last week.

Macatangay said the plane disappeared at 2:50 p.m. (0650 GMT). Radio reports said the plane exploded upon impact.
