Pacers sign Byron Scott

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana Pacers Monday signed veteran free- agent guard Byron Scott to a 1-year contract.

The 32-year-old Scott, who will back up starting shooting guard Reggie Miller, spent the past nine seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers, but was not re-signed when his contract expired following the 1992-93 campaign.

Scott, who did not fit in with general manager Jerry West's youth movement, averaged 13.7 points per game for the Lakers last season. He was a member of the Lakers' NBA championship teams in 1985, 1987 and 1988.
