WASHINGTON -- The main U.S. intelligence agency, inwhat's being described as a massive case of miscommunication and error, is reported to have shipped a ton of nearly pure cocaine to to the United States in 1990. The reports in The New York Times and The Washington Post say a CIA task force in Venezuela accumulated more than 3,000 pounds (1,400 kg) of cocaine that was delivered to its undercover agents by Colombian drug traffickers, and that some 2,000 pounds (900 kg) of the cocaine was mistakenly flown to the United States during 1990 and sold on the nation's streets.
