LINCOLN, Neb. -- Calvin Jones ran for 124 yards and two touchdowns and Nebraska rolled up 575 total yards total offsnes Saturday to cruise to a 76-14 trouncing of the University of North Texas.
The Eagles, a Division 1-AA school, gave up 28 points in the opening quarter.
Jones, who carried 16 times, scored on a 1-yard run in the first quarter and a 24-yard run in the second. The first touchdown came after a 52-yard punt return by Kareem Moss.
Nebraska quarterback Tommie Frazier played just two series before spraining an ankle. He did not return, but the injury was not considered serious. The Cornhuskers played four quarterbacks in the game.
Brook Berringer scored twice for Nebraska on a 1-yard run in the second quarter and a 4-yard run in the third. Quarterback Matt Turman threw a fourth-quarter scoring pass in the final period and then scored on a 1-yard run for the Cornhuskers.
