Michael Jackson arrives in Singapore for next leg of concert tour

SINGAPORE -- Pop superstar Michael Jackson, dogged by child molestation allegations in the United States, arrived Saturday in Singapore for two scheduled concerts and anticipated moral support from his sister Janet and actress Elizabeth Taylor.

Jackson arrived in Singapore from Bangkok at 5:30 p.m. local time (0930 GMT). He was to perform concerts on Sunday and Monday.

Taylor, a close friend of the singer, and Janet Jackson, a pop star in her own right, were expected to join Jackson in Singapore, the concert promoter said.

They were to help Jackson celebrate his 35th birthday Sunday and lend him moral support as Los Angeles police continue their investigation into allegations of sexual molestation. The accusations reportedly were made by a 13-year-old boy the 'King of Pop' had befriended.

Jackson has denied any wrongdoing. His attorney, Howard Weitzman, said Friday he has been advised that police found no physical evidence supporting the allegations.

The singer twice postponed concerts in Bangkok this week because, he said, he was suffering from 'acute dehydration.' But he returned to the concert stage Friday, electrifying 50,000 fans.

On Saturday, Jackson made a music video for his upcoming album. The pop star, wearing a bright orange shirt and tight black pants, was filmed in front of 150 Thai air force cadets standing at attention in dark blue uniforms with stripes on the sleeves and gilt buttons and ceremonial swords.

Jackson then flew to Singapore, the next stop on his six-continent 'Dangerous' world tour.

Upon his arrival at Changi International Airport in Singapore, Jackson evaded a group of teenage fans and was whisked to the country's most exclusive hotel, the Raffles.

A few hours later, a fedora-topped Jackson caused a stir by waving briefly from his third-floor suite to a throng of fans and media that had gathered below.

In Bangkok Friday, Jackson put on a two-hour show with no apparent effects from his illness.

However, concert promoter Brian Marcar said Jackson 'suffered a lot in the heat and humidity' during the Friday concert. He said a specialist doctor had arrived from England to treat the singer.

Jackson's entourage has denied that his poor health -- and the concert postponements -- had anything to do with investigation in Los Angeles.
