McDonalds offers seniors 25-cent drinks

OAK BROOK, Ill. -- McDonald's, the world's largest fast-food chain, Tuesday announced a permanent discount program for senior citizens, offering customers age 60 and over a special price of 25 cents for a small coffee or soft drink.

The special price for an 8-ounce cup of coffee of a 16-ounce soft drink will be valid at any time of day at all participating McDonald's in the United States.

No other purchase is required.

'As the fastest-growing demographic group in the U.S., senior citizens are more active today than ever before,' said McDonald's President and Chief Executive Officer Ed Rensi. 'Their busy lifestyle makes them an important market segment, and we believe our new discount drink policy will give older Americans even more reasons to visit McDonald's.'

McDonald's operates more than 13,000 restaurants in 66 countries.
