Steelers activate Green, Olsavsky

PITTSBURGH -- The Pittsburgh Steelers Saturday activated tight end Eric Green and linebacker Jerry Olsavsky for the final regular season game Sunday against the Cleveland Browns at Three Rivers Stadium.

The Steelers waived rookie tight end Russ Campbell and linebacker Darryl Ford to make room on the roster.

Green returns after a six-game suspension by the NFL for substance abuse. He has played in six of the Steelers' 15 games this season, missing three other games with a shoulder injury. Green has 14 receptions for 152 yards and two touchdowns.

Olsavsky has been on injured reserve since Nov. 6 with a foot sprain. He has played in six games this season.

Campbell was drafted by the Steelers in the seventh round this year from Kansas State. He played in seven games. Ford was signed Sept. 23 from the Detroit Lions' practice squad and played on special teams in seven games.

In activating Olsavsky, the Steelers used their fifth and final free roster move. Teams are given an additional free roster move for each game in the playoffs. The activation of Green, who was given a one-week roster exemption, did not count as one the five free activations.
