Cavs trade Kerr to Orlando

RICHFIELD, Ohio -- The Cleveland Cavaliers traded guard Steve Kerr to the Orlando Magic Thursday for a second-round draft choice in 1996.

The 6-foot-3 Kerr, a five-year veteran, is the National Basketball Association's all-time leader in three-point field goal percentage at 47.5 per cent.

Kerr led the NBA in 1989-1990 with a .507 three-point percentage, the second highest in NBA history.

Kerr was averaging 2.4 points in five games this season.

To make room for Kerr on the roster, the Magic waived guard Chris Corchiani. Corchiani, a second-year man, was averaging 4.7 points this season.

Kerr was expected to be in uniform for Orlando Thursday night against the Clippers in Los Angeles.

Cleveland activated forward Jerome Lane to fill Kerr's spot on the roster.
