Tigers rehire Harwell

DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers announced Friday that Hall of Fame broadcaster Ernie Harwell will return to the club's radio broadcast team next season.

Harwell signed a two-year contract with the club, coming back after new Tigers owner Mike Ilitch purchased the club from Tom Monaghan. Harwell was the voice of the Tigers from 1960 to 1991, but his contract was not renewed by Monaghan after last season.
