DALLAS -- A funeral is set Thursday for John Catchings, a Dallas psychic who helped numerous families search for their loved ones and participated in police investigations. He was 45.
Catchings' mother, Bertie Catchings, said he entered Parkland Memorial Hospital Friday because of complications from diabetes and died of a heart attack after surgery Sunday.
Recently when the family of missing Teri Edwards turned to Catchings for help in Dallas, the psychic said Edwards' body would be found in the Trinity River bottoms. The body was found in the river about two miles from where Catchings told authorities to look.
Catchings organized the Association of Parapsychology's annual Prediction Night, in which he and other psychics would make predictions. He also appeared on television's Unsolved Mysteries, CBS Secrets of the Unknown, Geraldo, That's Incredible, NBC's Today and other programs.
The funeral is scheduled at 7 p.m. CDT Thursday at Restland Funeral Home in Dallas.
