BEAUMONT, Texas -- Damon Patterson scored 25 points and Jeff Webster added 23 to lift No. 13 Oklahoma to a 117-95 victory Monday night over Mississippi Valley State in the first round of the Cardinal Club Classic.
The Sooners, 9-0, will play Lamar, a 126-57 winner over Sam Houston state, in the championship game Tuesday night.
Brent Price scored 19 points for Oklahoma, and Bryatt Van had 14.
Oklahoma led 59-43 at halftime, and sealed the game with an 18-4 run to open the second half.
Derrick Harvey led Mississippi Valley State with 23 points. Martell Willis netted 21 points and Howard Young added 15 in a losing cause.
Mississippi Valley State played without leading scorer Alphonso Ford, who was suspended by coach Lafayette Stribling for disciplinary reasons. Ford is averaging 24 points per game.
