Pacers may activate McCloud

INDIANAPOLIS -- George McCloud, the Indiana Pacers backup forward/shooting guard, may be activated off the injured list Monday or Tuesday if he receives the necessary medical clearance.

McCloud underwent surgery Oct. 30 to repair ligaments in his right thumb.

Pacers president Donnie Walsh wouldn't divulge his plan Sunday, but said McCloud would undergo an examination of his thumb Monday.

To make room on the 12-man roster, a Pacers source said it is likely shooting guard Randy Wittman will be placed on the injured list with a knee ailment that may require arthroscopic surgery.

For the season, Wittman has seen a team-low of 48 minutes in 11 appearances.

Two other players who might be bumped for McCloud's return are rookie off-guard Sean Green and sixth-year centerGreg Dreiling. In the Pacers' last two games, both of which were blow-out victories, Green played a total of nine minutes and Dreiling played 10. Wittman played six minutes during those games.
