White Sox send Snyder to Toronto

MILWAUKEE -- The Chicago White Sox traded outfielder Cory Snyder to the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday for a minor-league outfielder and a player to be named.

Snyder, 28, was the White Sox' starting left fielder on Opening Day, but hit only .188 with three homers and 11 RBI in 50 games.

He was acquired from Cleveland along with a minor-league outfielder in an off- season trade for pitchers Eric King and Shawn Hillegas.

Dan Pasqua and Sammy Sosa have received more playing time in the outfield lately at the expense of Snyder, who last started July 3.

In return the White Sox obtained Shawn Jeter, 24, a left-handed outfielder. He has played the past two seasons at Syracuse of the International League (AAA) and will report to Vancouver of the Pacific Coast League (AAA).

In 69 games at Syracuse, Jeter was hitting .259 with three homers and 25 RBI.
