LAKE TAHOE, Nev. -- Former Miami Dolphins All-Pro safety Dick Anderson looked ready for the PGA Tour after shooting a tournament- record 4-under par 68 Friday for a four-shot, first-round lead in the Celebrity Golf Association Championship.

Detroit Piston center Bill Laimbeer and former Atlanta Falcon quarterback Steve Bartkowski shot even par 72 to share the No. 2 spot.

The 76 coaches, athletes, actors and entertainers -- competing for a very professional-sized purse of $400,000 -- continue the three round tournament at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course on Saturday.

'The key to this course is to keep it in play,' Anderson said. 'This year, I thought even-par could win it and I still do, but I'm sure going to try to play better than that.'

Anderson, of Coral Gables, Fla., took runner-up honors to Mark Rypien in last year's inaugeral CGA Championship.

Tournament entrants include current Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway, Mario Lemieux of the Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins, and 1991 NBA Most Valuable Player Michael Jordan of the NBA Champion Chicago Bulls. Participants will be vying for a first place purse of $75,000.

'This event is so much fun to come to,' said Anderson. 'The competition is great. It's tough for guys like me with bad knees to make it around this course. All those other guys are young and in shape.'

Elway and actor Jack Wagner of the soap opera 'Santa Barbara' were in third place a one-over par 73.
