BEIRUT, Lebanon, Feb. 24, 1991 (UPI) -- The following is a United Press International translation of speech given by Iraqi President Saddam Hussein Sunday and monitored in Beirut: ''And do not hate anything for it might be good for you, and do not like something for it might be evil on you. God knows and you do not. [A verse from the Koran].
''To the great Iraqi people, to the brave men in our courageous armed forces, to the faithful honorable people of our nation and humanity wherever you are.''
''At the time the Security Council decided to convene to look into the Soviet peace initiative which we have supported, the treacherous committed treason, the disgraceful Bush and his agent (Saudi King) Fahd the inferior and all who rotate around them in this criminal act, aggression and disgrace have committed treachery. Those cowards who have mastered the acts of treachery, betrayal and disgrace have committed treason after they have abandoned all roads to virtue, the good and humanity.''
''They have committed treason and waged their wide ground attack against our struggling forces this morning and thus their intention has been revealed to all those who did not realize until now what their intention was.''
''They have committed treason as they have always done even with those who have joined them in signing the infamous resolutions of the Security Council before the military aggression against our country thinking that with these resolutions they would be protecting international legitimacy.''
''They committed treason against everyone, but God is above all and he is the one and only powerful capable of everything and will reverse the treason into their bellies and will disgrace them so that their ranks will be defeated.''
''From the beginning, the evils have acted towards this road, the road of aggression and evil to harm the people of Iraq and to put out its candle light. Let them be disappointed and let their acts fail.''
''But they will know in a while that between them and between what they are doing lies God's will that prevents evil against the faithful and struggling people. They will know in a while that the great Iraqi people and their armed, struggling and courageous forces are not what they imagine or think.''
''Fight them, oh Iraqis, with all the meanings you have inherited from your great history and with all the meanings of faith which you believe in as a people believing in God and proud of his dignity and right of choice and decision.''
''Fight them, oh you powerful courageous, oh men of the mother of all battles and the Kadisiya, fight them with your belief in God, fight them to defend every free and honorable woman, every innocent child and all the meanings of manhood and the values and military honor which you carry.''
''Fight them, because in their defeat you will be at the final entrance for the victory of all victories and war will end with all what the stand carries of dignity, glory and victory to your people, to your army and to your nation. And to its contrary, God forbids, there will only be the despicable abyss which our enemies wish to push you into, so that a long night will prevail over Iraq, the nation and humanity.''
''Fight them oh men, they do not carry the values that allow them to be more manly, courageous and capable than you are. With the collision of men, the weapons of superiority will vanish and no one will remain after that to decide the final outcome except the faith of the faithful and the courage of those who took the national, honorable, struggling and faithful stand.''
''Fight them and be harsh with them as God has called on the believers to be, as they confront the atheists.''
''Your children, mothers and fathers, all your parents and the people of Iraq and earth are watching your performance today to decide what will satisfy God and give pride to the country, the people and the nation. Fight them as they should be fought. Be the believers. They are the combination of atheism, hypocrisy and treason and you are the combination of faith, firm stance, loyalty and trustworthiness.''
