MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Larry Porter ran for 206 yards and three touchdowns Saturday night to help Memphis State overcome seven turnovers and gain a 24-24 tie with Arkansas State.
Porter scored on runs of 53, 55 and 4 yards -- the last one tying the game with 4:00 remaining.
Memphis State rushed for 340 yards and threw for 125 more, but the Tigers suffered four interceptions and three fumbles.
Porter's 55-yard scoring run put Memphis State ahead 17-14 midway through the third quarter. But Jersome Calloway answered late in the quarter with an 11-yard scoring run to make it 21-17 Arkansas State.
The Indians extended the lead 24-17 on Ryan Jose's 23-yard field goal in the fourth quarter.
Porter's third touchdown, a 4-yard run, tied the game with 4:00 left to play, and that's how it ended.
Roy Johnson threw a 57-yard TD strike to Kendricke Bullard in the first quarter to put Arkansas State up 7-0. Porter tied the score later in the quarter with his first touchdown, a 53-yard run.
Arkansas State went up 14-7 midway through the second quarter on a 75-yard interception return by Al Johnson. Memphis State cut the lead to 14-10 late in the half on Joe Allison's 32-yard field goal.
