Blackhawks trade Chevrier to Penguins

CHICAGO -- The Chicago Blackhawks Tuesday traded goalie Alain Chevrier to the Pittsburgh Penguins for future considerations following the acquisition of Greg Millen from Quebec.

'We feel that this adds depth to our organization,' Blackhawks coach Mike Keenan said.

'In the position of goaltender, we feel Greg Millen brings us some depth, some experience, especially in our division.'

The Blackhawks acquired Chevrier late last season. He was a key reason the Blackhawks advanced to the Stanley Cup semifinals, however, he has failed to return to playoff form this season.

Chevrier, 16-14-3 this year, has a 4.18 goals against average and a save percentage of .853, with one shutout.

Millen, 32, was traded earlier this season from the Norris Division rival St. Louis Blues to the Nordiques. He had a career-best and NHL-high six shutouts last year, his 10th in the league. Overall this season, Millen is 14-21-4 with a goals against average of 4.03.

The Blackhawks have been searching for some consistency in the nets this year, earlier trading for Jacques Cloutier, who has rotated with Alain Chevrier.

In his last outing, Chevrier was pulled after giving up three goals in six shots against the Philadelphia Flyers last week.
