CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Bengals, plagued by poor special teams play season after season, Friday signed Marv Braden as special teams coach and moved Mike Stock to receivers coach.
Over the past 14 years, Braden has served as special teams coach for the Phoenix Cardinals, San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos.
His units in Denver were best in the NFL in 1977 and 1979 and his special teams at San Diego were tops in the league in 1982 and 1985.
'When we were looking around for a coach and talking to people about a special teams coach, Marv Braden's name was in the top two or three with everybody,' said Bengals head coach Sam Wyche.
'Instead of having a good coach who was able to make a good fit as special teams coach, this time it's a natural fit.'
Stock had coached the Bengals' special teams the past three seasons.
