SAN DIEGO -- Vern Thompson scored 14 points Saturday to lead San Diego State to a 70-60 win over Central Connecticut State.
Marty Dow and Michael Best each scored 12 for San Diego State (8-5).

The Blue Devils were led by Kevin Swann with 17 points with Al Williams, who scored a career-high 16.
The Aztecs controlled the game from the opening tip, beginning with an 11-2 run. San Diego St. led 39-26 at halftime.
Neil Steinly's basket with 11:50 left to play gave the Aztecs a 49-31 lead. Then the Blue Devils ran off 11 of the next 12 points to close to 50-42 with 7:41 to play.
That was as close as the Blue Devils got, as San Diego St. scored seven of the next 10 to build a 57-45 lead.
