ATLANTA -- Scott Sisson kicked two field goals in the final six minutes -- the game-winner with 42 seconds to play -- and safety Ken Swilling returned one of his three interceptions 72 yards for a touchdown Saturday to lift Georgia Tech over Boston College, 13-12.
The underdog Eagles led 12-7 going into the final quarter. But Tech, 6-4, closed to 12-10 on Sisson's 35 yarder with 5:55 left, then won the game on Sisson's second 35-yarder after driving 60 yards to the Boston College 18.
Georgia Tech's only other lead came in the third quarter when Swilling picked off a Mike Power pass at the Yellow Jackets' 28 and raced down the left sideline to put the Yellow Jackets up 7-6.
Brian Lowe, who kicked field goals of 43 and 41 yards in the first half to give Boston College a 6-0 halftime lead, put the Eagles back in front midway through the third quarter with a 37-yard field goal.
Lowe kicked his fourth of the afternoon, a 46-yarder, with 1:56 left in the third quarter.
Neither team got inside the other's 20 in the first half when Boston College, winding up at 2-9, built that six-point lead on Lowe's field goals. Lowe was short on a 54-yard attempt with two seconds left in the half.
Georgia Tech's lone appearance inside the Eagles' 40 in the first three quarters came early in the second quarter when the Yellow Jackets drove to the Boston College 25. Sisson's 42-yard field goal attempt was was partially blocked by linebacker Ivan Ceaser.
Lowe's first field goal came with 9:13 left in the first quarter after the Eagles drove to the Tech 26 on their first offensive possession. The second, with 2:11 left in the half, came after defensive tackle Dave Moore made the first of BC's two first-half interceptions.
Swilling's first pass interception was at the Tech 40 early in the second quarter but led to nothing further. His third came on the next to last play of the game and ended Boston College's last-gasp attempt at an upset.
