Memphis State 34, Cincinnati 17

CINCINNATI -- Marvin Cox rushed for a career-high 150 yards on 29 carries to power running-minded Memphis State to a 34-17 conquest of Cincinnati Saturday.

Memphis State, 2-4, ran the ball 68 times for 294 yards.

By comparison, Cincinnati, 1-4-1, rushed 32 times for just 68 yards.

Eddie Moore started Memphis State's scoring with a 33-yard interception return, one of four times Cincinnati's Glenn Farkas was intercepted.

Gerald White scored on a 7-yard run, while Tim Jones and Wayne Pryor added 1-yard TD runs. John Butler kicked field goals of 34 and 48 yards.

Cincinnati scored on Farkas' passes of 55 yards to Dave Patania and six yards to Chris Kohl. Chad Voland kicked a 46-yard field goal.

Cincinnati went into the final quarter trailing just seven points, but a pair of Farkas interceptions led to 10 Memphis State points in the final period.
