Indonesia's Suharto to visit Moscow

JAKARTA, Indoneasia -- Indonesian President Suharto will travel to the Soviet Union in September for his first visit to Moscow since taking power more than two decades ago, the government announced Wednesday.

Official talks between Suharto and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev are scheduled for Sept. 11-12 in the Kremlin.

Relations between the Soviet Union and Indonesia grew tense 20 years ago after a failed communist-inspired coup attempt, but a thaw began when Gorbachev came to power.
