Piston Rodman named in palimony suit

INGLEWOOD, Calif. -- Detroit Piston Dennis Rodman refuses comment on the palimony suit filed against him by Annie Bakes, who claims he is the father of her 8-month-old daughter, Alexis Caitlyn.

Bakes, who also claimed Rodman beat her, was seeking more than $1 million from Rodman, which would include a share of his NBA playoff money.

Bakes has retained Los Angeles palimony attorney Marvin Mitchelson.

'I'm not talking,' Rodman told reporters when asked about the suit on Tuesday, hours before Detroit swept the Los Angeles Lakers, defeating them 105-97 in the fourth game, to claim the NBA title.

In a sworn statement filed with the court, Bakes said the couple separated May 9, 1989, after Rodman angrily slammed a door on her leg, badly bruising her calf.

'Dennis had come home about 4 a.m. in the morning and became angered and outraged when I questioned him about where he had been,' Bakes said in the statement. 'He then struck me in the face with the back of his hand, knocking me to the floor.'

Bakes said she suffered a bleeding ear and a bruised face and jaw from the alleged incident.

She is asking for $7,700 a month in child support, including $3,000 a month to rent a house in the Beverly Hills area, which she said was 'comparable' to the Detroit suburb of West Bloomfield, where Rodman and Bakes lived in Michigan.
