SAN DIEGO -- Joan Kroc, owner of the San Diego Padres, has promised to loan a $2.8 million Faberge egg to the Soviet Arts Festival, which will take place this fall in San Diego.

Kroc bought the egg at auction in Geneva, Switzerland, earlier in the month.

The Kroc egg is called the 'Pine Cone' egg. It was crafted in 1900 by Carl Faberge, the jeweler for the czars.

Twenty-six Faberge eggs will be exhibited at the festival.
