FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Racal Corp., a subsidiary of Racal Electronics PLC of Britain, said Tuesday it agreed to buy Interlan Inc., a local area network company, from Micom Systems Inc. for $57 million cash.
The company will form a Racal-Interlan subsidiary as part of its international data communications operations, which have annual revenues of about $500 million.
Interlan, which is based in Boxborough, Mass., with about 260 employees, provides equipment which links personal computers, work stations and minicomputers within a workplace.
A spokesman said Racal planned no layoffs or changes in the company's structure.
Racal Electronics of Bracknell, England, an electronics and security firm, has annual sales of about $2.5 billion.
The company's Fort Lauderdale subsidiary provides management and financial services for Racal's North American operations.
