The rumors about the failing marriage of Steven Spielberg and Amy Irving turned out to be true. The couple announced Monday that they had reached an amicable agreement to divorce after three years.
They have made arrangements for the division of property and money but have not yet filed the divorce papers, a spokesman said. 'Our mutual decision, however difficult, has been made in a spirit of caring,' Irving and Spielberg said in a joint statement. 'And our friendship remains both personal and professional.' For months, Irving, star of 'Crossing Delancy,' and Spielberg, director of some of the biggest movies in history, such as 'Jaws' and 'E.T.,' have reportedly been on the verge of divorcing. They have a son, Max, who was born in 1985, and no custody arrangements were announced.
