SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Santa Clara's Jens Gordon scored 37 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to lift the Broncos to an 84-68 victory over North Carolina-Charlotte Friday night and the championship of the Cable Car Classic basketball tournament.
The victory boosted Santa Clara to 10-2.
The 49ers fell to 5-2.
The Broncos held a 38-31 lead at the half.
Santa Clara's Jeffty Connelly added 19 points and Nils Becker scored 16. The 49ers were led by Bryon Dinkins with 16 points and Henry Williams added 12.
In an earlier game, Boston U.'s Steven Key scored 18 points to give the Terriers to a 75-54 victory over Navy and third place in the tourament.
The Terriers are 5-4; the Midshipmen 3-5.
Tony DaCosta scored 11 points and Jeff Timberlake 10 for the Terriers, who held a 42-29 halftime lead. Navy was paced by Eddie Reddick with 16 points and Bobby Jones added 12.
