NEW YORK -- Easy N Dirty, the only New York-bred horse in the field of 11, defeated favorite Nostalgia's Star by half a length Saturday in the 2 -mile $80,500 Display Handicap at Aqueduct, the longest flat race in the United States.
Nostalgia's Star, making the final start of his career and the 4-5 favorite of the crowd of 12,811, set most of the pace under pressure from Jack of Clubs and Chaudennay.
Easy N Dirty, a 5-year-old owned and trained by Paulino Ortiz, mounted a rally from fifth place leaving the three-eighths pole under Jorge Velasquez. He reached even with Nostalgia's Star turning into the homestreth, and outran him to the wire.
Easy N Dirty, who was winning his ninth race in 41 starts, was clocked in 3:53 2-5 and paid $26.80, $6 and $4. Nostalgia's Star returned $2.80 and $2.40 and Chaudennay, who finished three lengths behind the favorite, paid $8.80.
