EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. -- Clyde Simmons raced 15 yards after teammate Luis Zendejas had a field goal blocked with 8:50 left in overtime, giving the Philadelphia Eagles a share of the NFC East lead with a 23-17 victory over the New York Giants.
Terry Hoage's second interception of the game set up Zendejas to try a 31-yard field goal.
Sheldon White blocked the kick and defensive end Simmons picked up the ball and rambled to the end zone.
The stunned Giants argued Simmons could not advance his team's blocked field goal, but the rules state a field goal can be advanced if picked up behind the line of scrimmage.
The Eagles, 7-5, won their third straight game to tie New York and Phoenix atop the NFC East. Washington can make it a four-way deadlock with a victory over San Francisco Monday night.
