MADRID, Spain -- American jazz musician Miles Davis, suffering severe exhaustion, cut short a European tour and flew to New York Thursday, a concert promoter said.
The 61-year-old trumpet player fainted after a two-hour concert in Madrid Tuesday night, Montse Rovirasaid.
'He walked off the stage and dropped in a heap. He certainly gave us a big fright,' she said.
Doctors said Davis was suffering severe exhaustion and an irregular heartbeat but that there was no need for him to be hospitalized, Rovira said.
She said Davis flew to New York after calling off a Wednesday night concert in Barcelona and a series of performances in Italy scheduled to begin Thursday.
