BATON ROUGE, La. -- Prostitute Debra Murphree says evangelist Jimmy Swaggart was 'kinky and cheap too' during their 20 liaisons, having sex with her only once but demanding that she perform a variety of obscene acts in his Lincoln Town Car.
Murphree told Penthouse magazine that she rejected Swaggart's entreaties to bring her 9-year-old daughter to their sex sessions, telling him, 'Not my daughter! If you want to do it with someone else and it turns you on, fine. But not my daughter!'
'To me, he was kind of perverted,' Murphree said in the interview, which features 18 black-and-white photographs of her nude. 'I don't think he should be teaching children in Sunday school.'
The disclosures of Murphree's encounters with Swaggart led the Assemblies of God to defrock its most popular minister. Swaggart has admitted only 'moral failure,' and previous media reports said the television evangelist never had sexual intercourse with the prostitute but watched her perform obscene acts instead.
But Murphree said in the interview that he briefly had intercourse with her on one occasion.
A lawyer for Swaggart, William Treeby, refused comment on the Penthouse magazine article, titled 'Debbie Does Swaggart.' The article is contained in the July issue of the magazine, which goes on sale June 6. A copy of the magazine was obtained by the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate, which published excerpts of the interview Wednesday.
Murphree says Swaggart told her that his name was 'Billy.' She said the minister told her that he had been told on several occasions that he resembled Swaggart.
Many of 20 meetings occurred after he picked her up in his Lincoln Town Car in the New Orleans suburb of Metairie near a strip of seedy motels, she said.
Murphree, who pleaded guilty last week to a charge of prostitution, said Swaggart asked her to perform obscene acts while he masturbated.
'He asked me to unbutton my blouse and unzip my pants in the car while he drove around. ... Once he asked me to hop out naked in broad daylight in front of strangers so he could see the shock on their faces,' Murphree said.
'He'd always try to talk me into pulling my pants off and facing him sideways with legs spread. I said, 'No, I'm not going to take my pants off in the car.''
He also asked her to invite other prostitutes to their meetings, Murphree said.
Swaggart paid her $30 to $40 for each encounter, sometimes asking her to perform oral sex on him, Murphree said.
'God, what a freak! Kinky! Here he is up there preaching for all this money and when I see him, he's kinky and cheap too. ... He was so cheap,' she said. 'He would call and try to get me to get him off over the phone. He'd say he'd pay me the next time.'
Murphree claims that at the time she was seeing Swaggart she also was seeing a police officer, who, she identified as Randy Gorman, the son of defrocked minister Marvin Gorman.
Marvin Gorman, like Swaggart, was an Assemblies of God minister defrocked in a sex scandal. It was Swaggart who revealed that Gorman had committed adultery on at least one occasion.
Gorman is the preacher who reportedly hired a detective to photograph Swaggart in the company of Murphree last October.
On the day Swaggart was photographed leaving a by-the-hour motel with Murphree, she said she saw 'the cop' (Randy Gorman) running to another room. Murphree said she thought she was about to be arrested.
When Swaggart left the room, he was confronted by Gorman.
''You're in deep trouble now,'' she said she heard Marvin Gorman tell Swaggart.
