SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Santa Clara ended Fresno State's winning streak at 32 games Tuesday night with a 10-9 victory in 10 innings over the Bulldogs. The University of Texas holds the NCAA baseball record of 34 consecutive victories set in 1977.
Ed Giovanola scored from third on a roller in the bottom of the 10th for the winning run. Giovanola walked with one out and went to third on a single by Drew Miller. Jeff Healy followed with a roller to second. Giovanola scored when the Bulldogs failed to complete a double play that would have ended the inning.
