Singer Dottie West files for divorce

FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Country singer Dottie West -- whose last hit record was 'A Lesson in Leavin'' -- has filed for divorce from her third husband, Alan Winters, a sound and light man 23 years her junior.

West's divorce petition was filed Friday by Nashville attorney Maclin Davis in Williamson County Chancery Court and cites irreconcilable differences and cruel and inhuman treatment.

West, 56, and Winters, 33, were married June 28, 1983, in Nashville.

West won a 1964 Grammy Award for 'Here Comes My Baby.'

She was divorced in 1969 from steel guitar player Bill West and in 1980 from drummer Byron Metcalf. West and Winters, who now lives in Decatur, Ga., separated on Jan. 22, the divorce papers said.

Davis filed the petition in the name of Dorothy Marie Marsh West Winters, the legal name of the McMinnville native.
