PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- The Texas Rangers Friday traded minor-league right-hander Mike Loynd to the Houston Astros for catcher Robbie Wine, the team announced.

Wine was assigned to Oklahoma City of the American Association (AAA). Loynd was assigned Tuscon of the American Association.

Wine was a non-roster invitee to Houston's major-league camp and was 0-for-13 in exhibition games. The Astros' No. 1 pick in the 1983 draft, he spent most of 1987 at Tucson, hitting .240 with nine homers and 62 RBI in 76 games.
