It had begun late because the first reverse singles match between Mexican Leonardo Lavalle and Australian Wally Masur lasted five hours. Lavalle triumphed in five sets to tie the series 2-2.

Cash used his strong serve to control the first set Sunday. Maciel, however, rebounded in the second set to tie the match 1-1. He contested the third set Monday before appearing to tire in the final set.

On Friday, Cash defeated Lavalle in four sets and on Saturday, finishing another postponed match, Maciel defeated Masur.

Jorge Lazano and Lavalle lost to Cash and John Fitzgerald in straight sets in the doubles match Saturday to give Australia a 2-1 lead.
