LONDON -- A 14-year-old girl who snuck off from home to see her favorite star in a London show was raped by a man she asked for directions and was raped again by two other men when she sought their help, police said Thursday.
Authorities declined to identify the girl because of her age. A rape counselor said 'she is still in a state of severe shock' from the inhident earlier this week.
'I have never come across a case where such an innocent young girl is raped, and then raped again by men she goes to for help,' a London detective said.
Police said the girl, from a town northeast of London had told her parents she was going to spend the night with a friend near her home. Instead she took a train to London's West End theater district to see 'Babes in the Wood' at the London Palladium.
After the show, which featured her favorite star, Peter Howitt, police said she sought directions from two men at a subway station. Instead, they took her to their home, gave her alcohol, and one of them raped her, police said.
After being turned out into the streets after midnight, police said, the girl stopped two men in a car and asked them for help.
'These two, however, drove into a side street and both raped her,' said a police officer investigating the case. He said the 14-year-old, who was clad in a mini-skirt and high-heel shoes at the time, was left dazed and shocked at a municipal depot in Lewisham, a suburb southeast of London. A night security guard found her and called police.
In a message to newspapers afterward, Howitt said he was shocked at what had happened. 'I don't know her name or where she lives, but I want to do all I can to help.
'I don't want other kids to take risks like this and appeal to them not to run off on their own.'
