MADISON, Wis. -- University of Wisconsin defenseman Shaun Sabol said Wednesday he will join the Philadelphia Flyers organization, and Badgers Coach Jeff Sauer criticized the NHL team for luring him away in midseason.

Wisconsin announced the defenseman left the team and is expected to sign a contract with the Flyers Thursday.

'In terms of the Philadelphia Flyers, I don't support it at all,' Sauer said Wednesday night. 'This is a situation where they came in and took one of our guys in the middle of the season. This is the first time this has happened and just shows they don't care about the college programs at all, just their players.'

The 21-year-old Sabol, who is 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, had four goals and three assists in eight games this season and led the team with three power-play goals. He is a native of Minneapolis and Wednesday night returned home before signing with the Flyers.
