TIBURON, Calif. -- Robert Fitzgerald Williams, the father of comedian Robin Williams, died in his sleep Sunday at his home after a long illness, his family said.

The Evansville, Ind., native moved to Tiburon from suburban Detroit in 1968 after retiring as regional sales manager of Ford Motor Co.'s Lincoln-Mercury division.
Services for Williams, described as a great lover of the sea, sailing and boats, will be conducted by the Neptune Society, a family spokesman said.
He is also survived by his wife, Laurie; another son, Todd, of Healdsburg, Calif., and by grandson Zachary Tim Williams of San Francisco.
