ALBANY, N.Y. -- Maria Cuomo, the second daughter of Gov. Mario Cuomo, exchanged vows with a Jewish fashion shoe designer in the first wedding ever of a governor's daughter at the Executive Mansion.
The 25-year-old Roman Catholic bride tied the knot Sunday with the groom, Kenneth Cole, 33, during an interfaith ceremony attended by some 200 guests.
Cole, the son of Gladys and Charles Cole of Kings Point, N.Y., and Palm Beach, Fla., is a designer and president of his New York-based company known as Kenneth Cole Productions.
His wife is the president of C.A. Associates, a New York City special projects firm.
All members of the wedding party wore shoes designed by the groom.
It was the first time the daughter of any of the 52 New York governors married at the Executive Mansion on Eagle Street in downtown Albany.
The two daughters of Alfred Smith, who was governor from 1923 to 1928, were married while living in the mansion, but their weddings occurred at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception next door.
