Baseball Pittsburgh -- Activated shortstop Felix Fermin from the 15-day disabled list and sent him to Harrisburg of the Eastern League (AA).

Texas -- Placed second baseman Jerry Browne on the 15-day disabled list; purchased the contract of pitcher Dwayne Henry from Oklahoma City of the American Association (AAA); moved infielder Tom Paciorek from the 15- to the 21-day disabled list.

Toronto -- Signed pitcher Denis Boucher and assigned him to the Florida Instructional League. College Marist -- Named Pam White assistant women's basketball coach.

Purdue -- Declared strong safety Ronnie Beeks academically ineligible to play football this season.
