RANCHO PALOS VERDES, Calif. -- Los Angeles Raiders linebacker Jerry Robinson was arrested early today on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and felony possession of cocaine and codeine, deputies said.

Robinson, 30, was stopped at 1:30 a.m. after he drove his gray Mercedes Benz through flares laid out by deputies at the scene of a traffic accident at Crenshaw Boulevard and Indian Peak Road, near his home in Rancho Palos Verdes, Deputy Pete Fosselman said.

On the car's center console deputies found five chunks of rock cocaine and codeine tablets for which Robinson had no prescription, Fosselman said.

Robinson was booked at the Lomita Sheriff's Station on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and felony charges of cocaine and codeine possession, said Fosselman, adding he did not resist arrest. Bail was set at $2,500.

Robinson, a two-time All-American linebacker at UCLA, played for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1979-84 before coming to the Raiders in October 1985. Robinson was named to the NFC Pro Bowl team in 1982. He became a starter for the Raiders during the 1986 season.
