TORONTO -- Baseball announcer Tony Kubek, who broadcasts Blue Jays games on a part-time basis, criticized Toronto shortstop Tony Fernandez for using 'God' as a way of escaping responsiblity.

Fernandez has generally shrugged off questions about his performance, naming 'God' as the cause of his successes and failures on the field.

'You can't blame God because you're hitting bad or feeling bad, or not smiling,' Kubeksaid. 'You can't use God as a crutch. You have to accept some responsibility.'
