Written by Steve Martin and based on the classic 'Cyrano de Bergerac,' 'Roxanne' has a way of making you feel good even though you know it may be the corniest movie you've seen. Filled with romance, from its plot to the scenery, 'Roxanne' makes no apologies for its sweet fervor.
It is an oft-told tale retold yet again: love that finally looks past an ugly face and into a beautiful soul. Director Fred Schepisi has the good sense to let funnyman Martin and his elongated nose dominate the movie, and the actor literally seems to dance through his role with the grace of Gene Kelly. Also starring Daryl 'Splash' Hannah as the beautiful and brainy scientist and Rick Rossovich as the tongue-tied hunk who lusts for her. Rated PG-13.
