CLEVELAND -- The Eaton Corp. said Tuesday it will purchase the Clark Equipment Co.'s medium truck transmission product line and Clark's U.S. transmission service and redistribution operations for an undisclosed sum..
Clark will manufacture transmissions at its Brazilian facility for Eaton under a 10-year agreement.
The agreement also calls for Eaton to pay Clark $16 million for tooling, existing inventory and related parts business.
'This agreement adds to our traditional strength in the heavy truck transmission market, and now gives Eaton a full range of commercial truck transmission products worldwide.' said Robert W. Gillison, president of Eaton's Truck Components Group.
Eaton, which reported income of $138 million on sales of $3.8 billion in 1986, manufacturers advanced technology products for automotive, electronics, defense and capital goods markets.
