Nimick has appeared in finals six times, losing on each occasion.

'No, I'm not frustrated by not winning,' said Nimick. 'I'm not intimidated about not winning the big one either because I know I will some day. He (Talbott) is really starting to respect me. I have as much talent as he does, I just have to get tougher.'

For Talbott, who dropped only one game throughout the tournament, it was his fourth victory in seven events this season.

'Keeping the intensity up is tough, but this makes it worthwhile,' he said. 'Tonight was tough, John's strength is that he's a great competitor. It's just that he is so up and down. You saw how spectacular he can be but sometimes he just cuts it too fine.'

Earlier, New York's Nancy Gengler captured the first women's professional championship with an upset victory over top seed Alicia McConnell.

Gengler, seeded second, dropped the first game 5-15 then fought back to win the next three 18-15, 15-12, 15-8.
